Family: Do you ever sit around with your siblings, cousins, friends, and end your conversation with screaming, cursing and making fun of one another?
Having to be right.
Bullying
Not allowing another the right to their feelings,
Correcting each othe
Politics: Unbelievable how the two parties bash each other on social media. We have all witnessed this and many of us have taken part in this over the past 20 years. Debates are just bashing contests. Does anyone notice that the candidate is too busy bashing to actually tell us their plan.
When I was young, no one shared their vote. Sure, you could probably tell which way they were leaning but there was a respect for that citizen's right to vote according to their conscience and not have to explain their decision. Where has the respect gone in our country and why?
I notice that sometimes when I am with friends and family, it's like. "Let the rumpus begin!." We learn this behavior and It just became a habit. Habits can be broken.
I know I’m getting better because I recognize the behavior. The first step to recovery is acceptance. We accept the situation for what it is and, if need be, we step away.
It is ok to stay away from those who incite the rumpus:-). A few things to do:
Stay Present - Enjoy the day!
Practice Ahimsa - non-violence towards ourselves and others The first of the Yamas. and the foundation of everything.
Reading and practicing the Yamas and Niyamas
Japa every day,; mantra recitation during meditation
Journal and release negative feelings .
Gratitude Journal
Self Study
Mindfulness
Forgive and forget the past
Don’t worry about the future.
Go within.; be at peace with yourself
Be responsible for yourself
Allow others to be responsible for themself.
It is suggested that it takes three positive thoughts to erase a negative thought. When that negative thought enters your head, think of the positive thoughts - think of three, to one-hundred and three. Whatever it takes.
Everyone has their own purpose and their own truth. Everyone has a right to their convictions even if we don't agree. We have free will and we have our own path. This includes RELIGION!!!! POLITICS!!!! and ALL - BELIEFS!!!. Sorry, I was screaming.
If you think you are superior to someone else, I believe you may be missing the point. We are all equal and none perfect. We are imperfectly-perfect and each of us has been sent here to teach a lesson.
Respect. others - A good rule to follow You don't have to love them or hang out with them. Detach with love or communicate with love. Good for your heart.
Sage Patanjali mentions the five kleshas in Yoga Sutra 2.3. These kleshas are responsible for our suffering in life. They are connected to our EGO.
Avidya: ignorance
Asmita: I-ness, ego sense
Raga: attachment
Dvesha: aversion
Abhinivesah: fear of death, clinging to life
Klesha: painful, afflicted
We will explore how to let go of the kleshas in August. I hope you subscribe. Thank you!
Happy July and happy Independence Day! 🎆🎇🇺🇸🇺🇸
